Welcome to Glass Fusion Studios of Vermont

Sheets of stained glass

Welcome to my new website.  I wanted a website that allowed me to showcase my talents as a Stained Glass Artist.  It will contain photos of past commissioned stained glass work as well as stained glass windows that are for sale.  I also create utilitarian fused glass work that makes a great gift and is perfect for everyday use.

This website will also be a place where I’ll include photos of family and friends, some personal observations,  share inspiration for some of my work,  photos of nature and of course chat about stained glass, fused glass and my stained and fused glass studio, which is located in Bennington, Vermont.

I hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions or comments, send me an email…I’ll be happy to hear from you.

The photo above was taken of just a few of the more than 150 pieces of stained glass I have on hand and helps show the beauty of the colors and textures of glass.

“Blue Plate Special” Fused Glass Plate

This fused glass plate was a special commission for a couple in Oregon.  It’s a take on the diner classic “Blue Plate Special” and is made entirely of glass.

"Blue Plate Special"

The pieces were made separately and affixed to the plate.  The size is about 16″ in diameter and has added hooks on the back so it can be hung on the wall.  It’s a fun piece of art for any kitchen.

This custom fused glass wall art was made in my Bennington, Vermont stained glass and fused glass studio.  Glass Fusion Studios of Vermont designs, creates and builds custom stained and leaded glass windows, fused glass are as well and stained glass repairs and restorations.

Custom Stained Glass Window

This custom designed and built stained glass window was made using the copper foil method of stained glass construction.  It was built for a customer in Maryland who wanted the famous Maryland Crab in glass to hang in their summer home on the Maryland Shore.  A green / brown mottled glass was used to mimic the natural look of the crab and it was kept simple by using a clear textured glass to surround the crab and helps highlight the crab.

Custom Stained Glass Window Transom

Stylized Flower House Transom Stained Glass Window

This custom built stained / leaded glass window was made for a customer in the city of Baltimore, MD.  It recreates the style and colors of other row homes on the street.  The homeowner was renovating the home and over the years the original stained glass window was either damaged or removed and they hope to add the original charter back to the home.

We now design, build, repair and restore custom stained glass windows in our Bennington Vermont stained glass studio.

No matter where you live, Vermont, Boston, New York City, the mid-West or West coast, let Glass Fusion Studios of Vermont create a custom stained glass window just for you.

Have a great week.

Stained Glass Window Progression

Basket of Apples pre soldering

The photo above shows a stained glass window in the process of being built and prior to it being soldered together.  The apples and basked are wrapped in copper foil while the grid behind and bordering the window is leaded with lead came.  The project at this stage has been assembled, but none of the glass has been soldered as of yet.

A close up of the apples and basket

This photo shows a close-up of the apples and basket before soldering.

Soldered but not yet finished

The photo shows the stained glass window after it has been soldered together.  Notice the copper foil is no longer visible as it’s been covered with solder and the leaded part (grid and border) has been soldered where the lead came pieces connect only.

The finished stained glass window

This photo shows the finished stained glass window project.  The bright solder has been a deep black “patina” and the window has been framed in zinc and put into a wood frame supplied by the customer.

This stained glass window was designed and built by me in my Bennington Vermont stained glass studio.  If you have a stained glass project in mind, let me know and we can discuss your stained glass project, design, colors and more.

I have been working in my Vermont stained glass studio for 7 years now and I am inspired by the beauty of the area and New England in general.  Let me create a quality stained glass window for your home, office or house of worship.

Have a great day.

Four Panel Stained Glass Window Transom

This four panel stained glass window transom was custom designed and built for a contractors home in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore Maryland.  Each is a seperate panel, but the pattern flows through the four stained glass windows which have a floral motif.

Close up of one of the four stained glass panels

This close up show that I used the lead method of stained glass construction because these panels are exposed to weather and can withstand decades of snow, rain and sun exposure.

Church Six Panel Stained Glass “window” Doors

This six paneled stained glass window was installed with the help of Anna Croyle, at a church in the Baltimore, Maryland area.  The panels we installed inside custom-made doors, three panels per door that slide open and are located behind the chorus and pulpit of the church.  So every day the congregation sees these panels.

The Pastor had specific ideas and colors he wanted in each panel and we were more than happy to incorporate those themes into the design.  These stained glass windows were designed and built while I had my studio in Baltimore, Maryland.

I have since moved my stained glass studio to Bennington, Vermont where I design and build quality custom stained glass window.   Vermont is where I now call home, but don’t let that stop you from contacting me about your stained glass window project.  I create custom stained glass windows for clients all over North America.   Contact me at joe@glassfusionstudios.com and let’s discuss your stained glass project.

Latest Stained Glass Window Installation

This window was just completed and installed in a home in Hoosick Falls, NY.  It was a custom designed and built window for the customer.  It is called the “Four Seasons” window because it depicts the view the clients have from their home, over the four seasons.  The homeowner needed to construct scaffolding so we could get to the window itself, which wave above the kitchen cabinets at the roof line, it was a tricky install but I’m sure you’ll agree the window came out great.

This is the window with scaffolding prior to installation of the stained glass window.
